He continues to perform the highest volume of revisional surgeries in the Long Island/New York area, offering hope to countless patients who have been told that their weight loss goals were unattainable.
As a leading bariatric surgeon with over 23 years of experience, Dr. Buchin is at the forefront of new and innovative techniques. As a skilled robotic surgeon, Dr. Buchin utilizes the advanced technology of the da Vinci Surgical System for all his bariatric and general surgery procedures. Robotic surgery enhances your surgeons’ capabilities by delivering 3D, high-definition views providing superior visualization of delicate tissues. The robot provides greater precision and control over delicate movements, enabling surgeons to perform procedures with more accuracy. This innovative approach results in smaller incisions, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery with reduced pain. Dr. Buchin’s Robotic expertise has made him a sought-after speaker worldwide, training other surgeons in the use of this advanced technology.
Dr. Buchin’s extensive experience in weight loss has made him a leading expert in the field of weight management. For patients who are not surgical candidates or prefer a less invasive approach, weight loss medication may be an effective option. Dr. Buchin served as a prominent speaker for Novo Nordisk, the trusted maker of Wegovy and Saxenda, and has been prescribing these and other innovative weight loss medications since 2016.
As the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Huntington Hospital, Dr. Buchin founded the Bariatric Program in 2010. Under his leadership, the program achieved national accreditation in Adult and Adolescent bariatric surgery from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), demonstrating their commitment to patient safety, exceptional care, and superior outcomes.
The MBSAQIP designation is the highest-level accreditation awarded to bariatric surgery programs that demonstrate excellence in all aspects of patient care, from quality initiatives to outcomes. This accreditation, granted after a rigorous and comprehensive review of our surgical processes, outcomes, and facilities, ensures the program meets strict standards for patient safety, advanced resources and equipment, state-of-the-art technology, medical and surgical procedures, operating facilities, staff training, and comprehensive post-surgery support.
