I have been having crashes after I eat. I am 5 months post op and this is a new phenomenon. I have been concentrating on eating protein and am falling asleep after eating in the middle of the afternoon, a problem since I work!! Is any one else having this??? I am taking my vitamins. Marian

Dear Marian,
I spoke to marian about this over the phone, but would like to let everyone know... During the period of 3-6 months, it is a very common finding that you feel tired and "crashing". Your body needs the calories to give you energy. The best thing for the crashes is to take a protein shake around 10am. It should give you the necessary calorie boost that your body is craving. So have a normal breakfast earlier and then have a protein shake around 10am then have lunch around 1pm. that should help with the crashes... Also if your able to, take a nap to rejuvinate yourself. How are you doing now?
Sincerely,
Dr. David Buchin

I too have seem to also notice this lately there will be a few days where im keeping myself active and busy and ill feel very tired where I pretty much just wanna plop down and take a nap. I also seem to want to eat more when im in this phase of when I feel weak. Protein Shake seems to do the trick but sometimes I just need to have a nap during the day to recharge myself.

7 months post op and I feel so much better. My crashes have gotten much better, the protien mid morning has helped alot. I have so much more energy. My hair is getting thicker, yay. I've reached a plateau, but I cant really complain I've lost 86lbs since April. I still have at least 30 more to go. Thanks for the good advice Dr Buchin, and I hope to see you all at the next meeting in November. Marian
