Ok if this is your first time ever having surgery this is pretty much how it will go when you go to the hospital on the operation day. First you will goto surgery admitting youll sign in eventually somebody will call you in and you have to sign some paperwork and then youll go back out in the waiting room. When its time to get you ready they will take ya into admitting room which is one big room with alot of curtains for privacy for people that are about to have there surgery. Nurse will come in to check your blood pressure and heart rate. And youll get into a gown this was acually the hardest part I think for me the anxiousness the waiting to go into the operating room. Anesthesia Doctor will also come in and check on you before you go into the operating room and ask about what your allergic to and so on. I did get to see the doctors before I was operated on wanted to make double sure the surgery that they were gonna do on me. Have to sign off again for the surgery and for blood transfusion which I didnt need its very rare. Finally the time had come and I was walked into the operating room I have no idea how I fit myself on the operating table its like 1/2 a twin bed if lucky that. And there is a part to the table that has arms so you can place your arms out. Anesthesia doctor sets you up he checked blood pressure. Did an EKG on me put those sticky pads on me so he could get a reading for the EKG. Started putting the mask over my face and was breathing in oxygen. A few minutes later the anesthesia starts your breathing it in and pretty much thats it before you know it your out. I dont even remember drifting off last thing I remember is breathing in the anesthesia and after that was out like a light. Next thing I remember is being in recovery.

Its now been close to 2 months after since I had Sleeve Gestrotomy Surgery. I really feel great I havent felt this great in years I notice im walking alot faster and alot longer then I have in years.....also when I go up stairs I dont get as out of breath as I use too. I feel like I never even had the surgery I have no complications at all. Im losing on average about 12-14 lbs a month with this surgery. This surgery has given a whole new meaning on my life I can go out in public and not worry about people looking at me. I spend so much more time out of the house I dont remember the last time ive spent so much time going outside and doing things. As many others have said on here for the small time you'll be in discomfort (if you have discomfort everybody is different you might not even feel discomfort) the benefits and all from this surgery will so outweigh the 2-3 days of discomfort you will have after surgery. Just have to remember stay away from sugars (cause they are loaded with carbs) and remember no carbonated drinks ever. I use to be a huge soda drinker and I dont even crave soda anymore you learn to deal with it and find alternatives for drinks.

After you have surgery Dr. Buchin will tell you not to have any thing other then soft foods for 6-8 wks before you have any red meats/harder to digest foods. At first I had a bit of a problem when having a hamburger when I would eat a few bites I would get nauseous I think maybe it was the bread though cause I had tuna fish sandwich at a dinner once and had to run to the bathroom cause I thought It might come back up I felt so nauseous. But the past few weeks having hamburgers Ive noticed a big difference I dont get anywhere near as nauseous as I did. Just remember chewing enough is very very very important. All foods I tolerate very good now. Vegetables I have no problems with at all but of course this can be different for you. Dr. Buchin recommends them being steamed so they are very soft and it makes it alot easier to digest.
Roughly 2 weeks after surgery you will go back in to see the doctor and he will check on your stomach to make sure you dont have any pain. He also will take out any stiches you may have from surgery. After I had this done I would put neosporin twice daily to make sure I wouldnt open up any remaining of the scab of where I had an incision. Doctor/Nurse will also take your weight to see how much you have lost. People that are concerned about scars there wont be any after about a year I notice a big difference already just 2 months after surgery.
3 months after surgery you will go get your blood work done Dr.Buchin will give you a paper of the blood work that needs to be done to make sure all your levels are normal.

I am currently down to 309 lbs. I am currently doing 6 miles a day on the tredmill im starting to notice a huge difference in my legs and arms. Gut is also shrinking. I really feel great I have so much confidence in exercising and going out places. By Christmas time I will be 100 lbs lighter then I was in July. My goal is to weigh 220 as I get lighter I plan to get a situp bench to work on my stomach and do setups. I am continuting to do resistance training with 10 lb dumbells. When I get up I do get dizzyspells I talked to my mother whos a nurse cause I told her that there are some times I get so dizzy I feel like im gonna faint she thinks it might be my blood pressure but Im gonna contact Dr. Buchin to be safe about the matter. I continute to have an isopure shake every morning. Along with my vitamin supplements vitamin C & D which I was deficient in. Im sure ill get it figured out I dont consider it anything major and the benefits still are amazing.
