One of the biggest concerns post surgery is the amount protein you eat daily.
How has it been for you trying to get it all  in or has it been a piece of cake ..oops...I mean protein bar.

Many people have just gotten fed up with the protein shakes and have found creative foods and ways to make up for it.

Share you experience...

I have been drinking the isopure fruit drinks. Personally I like the alpine punch or the blue raspberry. They are pretty good, 20oz of fluid and 40 grams of protein. I also like the new whey protein shots by IDS 3oz of jello like liquid and 42 grams of protein- I like the fruit punch ones the best, they also have orange and grape, orange is okay but fruit punch is the best. Also Nectar protein 1 scoop can be mixed into water because its flavored in flavors like lemonade and fuzzy navel but i mix roadside lemonade with pink lemonade crystal light and its pretty good. These drinkable proteins kill two birds with one stone, getting in the right amount of protein but also getting in the 64oz of liquid. You can find the nectar on bariatriceating.com and the whey protein shots in GNC along with the isopure fruit drinks. The cases are on sale until the end of the Month at GNC as well as isopure protein shakes.

I can't eat enough food to get all my protein in, so I drink a 2-scoop Isopure protein shake...that takes care of 50 grams right there.

Does everyone else get their protein through food and not the protein shakes?  If so, how?

I just bought protein bars that give me 15 grams of protein (plus my chocolate fix).  It's great for when you're out of the house and it's past your lunch or dinner time and you don't want to get stuck eating at a fast food restaurant just because you're starving.

Over 100 grams.  I have protein bar with over 30 grams of protein.  1 serving of isopure.  And everything I eat is high in protein.  Since I added a protein bar to my diet I seem to have more energy and not to be as tired so I guess I need the extra protein.

Hey Dee,

Well foods that are good to eat that have protein would be chicken (might have to blend it if its too much for your stomach), tuna fish, peanut butter these seemed to work best shortly after I had the surgery.  But if you have 1 protein bar and isopure your set anyways really unless Dr. Buchin has changed the daily requirements you should get in a day it is 60 grams.  But if your having a protein bar + isopure thats 80+ grams right there.  I think you are in a good range right now Smiley.  How do you feel you feel tired at times or weak? maybe you might need a bit more I had a period of time I was like that and adding a protein bar fixed that for me.
