Hello all

Well against all odds, and instructions, I made a rookie error the other day.  Embarrassed Shocked Sad

It was Saturday night and I was (believe it or not) getting ready to go to my best friends wife's 40th birthday party.  I was feeling up to it so I figured lets take this baby (my pouch) out for a spin.  Grin The spin itself was not too bad, I'll go into that in a little.  The rookie error was before we left the house.  We were getting ready to depart at around 5pm, and I was going to bring my "dinner" with me to have there, as it would have fit into my schedule.  Well just before we left my sister and brother in law decided to drop over.  I was very happy to have them come visit.  I was just out to the hospital one day and enjoy their company very much.  So we sat down and talked a little (I have come to realize that I shouldn't talk too much because it makes my mouth very dry and I need to drink a lot of water).  As time went by I realized that my schedule was getting thrown off a little, and then a lot.  They finally got ready to depart at around 7pm and as I was saying good night I inadvertently took a rather large swallow of water.  Not really big in the normal sense but I'm still at the sipping stage.  Anyway I felt it, a short sharp pain in my gut.  It subsided quickly and then I compounded my error.  Thinking to myself it's 7pm I'm already an hour late for my dinner, I decided to have my 3oz of shake .... much too soon, and instead of taking it in over the course of an hour like I was instructed to, now feeling pressed for time... because I got to get to the party, consumed it in about 10 minutes!  I was treated to the worst pain of the whole ordeal.  For about the next 15 minutes I was in agony.  And of course as soon as it started I knew I screwed up.  Just as I was going to grab the Codeine it started to subside.  Of course followed by the rush to the bathroom.  So now I was delayed even more.  We jumped in the car(now about 8pm) and drove to the party.  I know I mentioned it in anther post about how a bumpy ride in a car can jar loose lots of gas, but not a real comfortable way to do it.  Well I jarred loose a lot of gas on that ride.  I made several trips to the bathroom while at the party, and since there was only one bathroom for a house full of people, well it got close one time. Shocked

I sometimes need to learn the hard way but I am so sure not to go away from the schedule now and I am proud to say I have not repeated my error since. Grin

The battle isn't over until you stop fighting.

Think of this early post-op period as being a minor league pitcher just entering the majors for the first time.   You think you know what your doing, and yeah, you do, but...there are some differences.  You get knocked around for a while, have your confidence shaken.  Maybe you lose a few games, give up a couple of home runs...but then you get into your rhythm, you settle down, and everything starts falling your way.   Before you know it, your on your way to being considered for rookie of the year.
