OMG!   Somebody help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This liquid diet is kicking my butt!  I am on the fourth day and mentally, I think I am about to break.  All this week, people in my office have had pizza, Mexican food, Chinese food and Italia food.  I leave for more than an hour each day when the food starts coming in.  I have been shopping on my lunch breaks and buying new furniture for my apartment.  If this keeps up, I will have to freeze all my credit cards until March!  I am creating my own stimulus package for today's failing economy!

Some days, I feel no hunger, and others, like today, all I can think about is eating.  It is driving me crazy this morning in particular.  This is the Superbowl weekend and I will be staying home because I can't bear to be around all that food.  It is the first time in 10 years I won't be participating in a party.

I am having trouble concentrating at work.  I am cold all the time and I am sleepy all the time.  I am doing 3 or 4 shakes a day.  I am also having jello and sugar-fee pudding and drinking a lot of Crystal Lite.   I tried the soup broth and I hated it!  Is there anything else anyone can suggest?  Seriously, would some egg whites kill me?

How long will it take my body to adjust to this?  I want to continue the shakes after the surgery for the protein intake, so I really need to get this down pat.

Please, any support or suggestions you can give me will help.

Hey Veronica,
If you're feeling hungry maybe you need to add another shake. How long are you going between meals? The protein is supposed to stave off hunger, but only for a limited time. Give Sophia a call. Don't try to do this alone. If you're having difficulty we need to fix it. On the other hand, it's less than 2 weeks away!!! Whoo hoo!!

Hey Vee.... sounds like it's a mental thing.  You see it, smell it and hear about is and it triggers your hunger?!?!?!  I feel your pain my sister!  Be strong!

For before and after the surgery there is a product called IsoPure by NaturesBest which is a clear flavored proten drink that is good tasting as well.  A little pricey but I played with it a few weeks back and it is good.  I plan on making a large part of my pre and post op routine.  Don't know if it will knock out your hunger but is something Else to drink and fill up on that has a positive effect.  And like bookworn said you may need to add another shake or two to get you thru the day.  Definitely call Sophie.  I will put a link at the bottom so you can see what I'm talking about.  It was actually created for post op (not just bariatric) patients who needed extra protein intake.  I also had a lot of success with the Atkins shakes, very filling and tasty too.  Have you asked the doctor about appetite suppressants?  I know it's not the preferred thing to do but might get you through this hard period.

Stay strong!  Get mean!  Go to the mattresses!!!!! Angry

Thanks Tony and Diane for your support.

Saturday was the worst of the days for me so far.  Today has been better.  My friend made me a home made, low sodium, fat free turkey broth.  It was very tasty and it made a big difference for me.  I am making an extra shake when and if I am hungry.  I am feeling better today and determined not to break.  I think there were two things that were bothering me on Saturday.  One was that my mom wasn't around because she had been in Hawaii on vacation and on Friday the scale was not showing any loss, which was unbelievable considering I hadn't had solid food for almost 3 days.

Today I got a new scale because mine wasn't working and it is finally showing a loss.  That, at least, makes the idea of not having solid food a little easier to bear.

I will post more tomorrow.  I am feeling very sleepy today.  Thank you for the links Tony.  And by the way, I missed you at the last meeting.  I hope you make the next one!

I don't know about that scale, but the photo shows it all!!! Hang in there, it will get easier. I will bring the chocolate isopure on Tuesday. I'm sure that will give you lots of staying power! LOL!

Love,
