I just went to my doctor last night, 4th monthly visit of required 6, and well I am finally starting to make some progress.  I'm down 5 pounds.  I know it's a drop in the bucket but at least it's the right direction.  I made a sort of pledge to the doc to double it by our next visit which is 12/22.  If I can keep it together at work and stay on track I should be good for the surgery by February.  Woo Hoo!

I was thinking last night that it's great to have a place to kind of dump my thoughts and emotions about this without anykind of strange looks and remarks.  My better half is pretty much on board and may even get the surgery as well, although she has been having a lot of second thoughts and hasn't been following up on her doctor visits.  We were watching a program on extream weight loss and she gets very hung up on the excess skin issue, it could be a deal breaker for her.  So as I was saying it's great to have a place to communicate with others who have made the commitment and followed thru with it.  It's kind of a safe place to open up and drop my carefully developed social armor.  You know the kind that grows with you as you grow larger.  Well thank you all for being there to listen and add.

I hope everyone has a great holiday and hope to see you all again at next months meeting ... it should be on 12/09 I believe.

February will be here before you know it.   The holidays will make the time just fly by.  You have that in your favor to help you get to the finish line of your pre-op portion of this process.  Congratulations on your 5 pounds shed.  5 pounds is a good accomplishment, don't knock it.  5 pounds is the difference between something fitting snuggly or comfortably.  Soon enough you'll be shedding sizes, have no fear of that.  Eating right at work is so much easier than at home or the weekends, at least for me.

This is a safe place to talk and to share and to vent.  It's one of the reasons I post so much.  I for one am glad your posting your thoughts and experiences too now, it makes me doing so seem lest weird.   Guys aren't used to sharing I suppose, not about weight issues at least.  It's important for us to talk these things out, even if that talking takes the form of a post on a message board.

Oscar is right. February will be here before you know it! Just think, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Groundhog's Day. You're almost there!! The waiting is the hardest, but once you get there things really move quickly.
Today I am so thankful for everyone I have met during this process. They have all made such a difference in my life. I couldn't have survived it all without them. Even in the beginning when I was too shy to speak up, hearing their stories gave me the courage to move on. I hope my success will inspire someone else going through this process.
Hang in there - we're all in this together.
